Key parameters
Fits immersion and air heating duties that need a Watlow WATROD tubular element with selectable sheath materials and watt density up to 45 W/in² (single-ended) or 120 W/in² (double-ended) per the HTR-WRDT-0221 sheet.
Key advantages
- Sheath to 1800 °F class — Alloy 800 double-ended to 1800 °F (982 °C); single-ended SS/Alloy to 1200 °F.
- High watt density — single-ended to 45 W/in²; double-ended to 120 W/in².
- Material choice — steel, 304/316 SS, Alloy 800/840, Alloy 600 sheath options.
- Optional MULTICOIL TC — internal thermocouple combinations on double-ended builds.
Typical applications
- Immersion heating in tanks and process vessels.
- Air and oven heating with formed tubular elements.
- OEM builds specifying sheath alloy, watt density, and termination.
Selection guide
- Process / sheath temperature capability — Single-ended Alloy 800/840 & SS up to 1200 °F (650 °C); double-ended Alloy 800/840 up to 1600 °F (870 °C); Alloy 800 up to 1800 °F (982 °C); steel up to 750 °F (400 °C).
- Watt density — Single-ended up to 45 W/in² (6.9 W/cm²); double-ended up to 120 W/in² (18.6 W/cm²).
- Sheath materials — Steel, 304/316 SS, Alloy 800/840, Alloy 600.
- Supply — UL/CSA recognition up to 240 VAC (single-ended) / 600 VAC (double-ended) component class.
- Sensor option — Optional MULTICOIL with internal thermocouple combinations (double-ended).
- Seal rating — Silicone resin seals rated to 221 °F (105 °C) at seal.
- Mounting / form — Multiple mounting and termination options; 53 standard bend formations.
- Approvals — UL; CSA.
- Notes — Values aligned with Watlow HTR-WRDT-0221 specification sheet. Resistive heating element — not a measuring instrument.
Common mistakes
- Specifying steel sheath when process temperature needs Alloy 800 class (steel listed to 750 °F / 400 °C).
- Confusing single-ended watt density (≤45 W/in²) with double-ended (≤120 W/in²).
- Ignoring seal temperature (221 °F / 105 °C at seal) vs sheath capability.
- Leaving bend formation / termination blank — 53 standard formations; lock geometry before RFQ.
- Expecting a measuring accuracy line — WATROD is a heater element, not a sensor.

When to RFQ / what to tell us
- Immersion vs air duty, process/sheath temperature, medium, and single- vs double-ended preference.
- Sheath material, watt density target, voltage (≤240 VAC single-ended / ≤600 VAC double-ended class), MULTICOIL TC yes/no.
- Bend formation / mounting / termination, quantity, ship-to.

FAQ
Q: Single-ended vs double-ended? A: Watt density and sheath temperature capability differ — single-ended up to 45 W/in² / 1200 °F class on Alloy 800/840 & SS; double-ended up to 120 W/in² with higher Alloy 800 class limits. Lock the style on the RFQ.
Q: Does it measure temperature? A: No — it is a resistive heater. Optional MULTICOIL internal thermocouple is available on double-ended configurations.
Q: What should I send for a quote? A: Duty, temperature, medium, sheath, watt density, voltage, bend/termination, quantity. Compatible with systems using Watlow WATROD tubular heaters — we do not claim authorized-dealer status.
