Key parameters
316 SS insertion paddlewheel with non-magnetic RF detection for 0.1…6 m/s in DN40…DN600 pipes (hot-tap versions to DN900), including field-replaceable electronics.
Key advantages
- Low-velocity capability — 0.1…6 m/s (0.3…20 ft/s) without magnets in the process fluid.
- Stainless construction — 316 SS body/fitting; 17-4PH rotor; tungsten-carbide shaft (SS optional); CFR-PTFE bearings.
- Hot-tap versions — service without process shutdown; hot-tap pipe range to DN900 (36 in.).
- Field-replaceable electronics — TVS protection for field wiring disturbances; 7.6 m (25 ft) cable standard.
Typical applications
- HVAC, turf irrigation, cooling systems, filtration, water distribution, leak detection, pump protection.
- Clarified effluent totalization, groundwater remediation, gravity-feed lines.
- Full-pipe liquid service (not for empty or partially filled pipes).
Selection guide
- Pipe size — Standard: DN40…DN600 (1½…24 in.); Hot-tap: DN40…DN900 (1½…36 in.).
- Velocity — 0.1…6 m/s; min. Reynolds number 4500.
- Accuracy — Linearity ±1% of full range; repeatability ±0.5% of full range.
- Process connection — 1½ in. NPT or ISO 7/1-R 1.5 threads; adjustable sensor covers the published pipe range.
- Electrical — Frequency ~49 Hz per m/s (~15 Hz per ft/s); open-collector sinking, max 10 mA; supply 5–24 VDC ±10%, 1.5 mA max.
- Cable — 7.6 m (25 ft) standard; extendable to 300 m (1,000 ft).
- Pressure / temp — Up to 17 bar @ 82 °C with FKM; 17 bar @ 100 °C with EPDM; operating −18…100 °C.
- Approvals — CE, UKCA, FCC; RoHS / China RoHS.
Common mistakes
- Ordering standard instead of hot-tap when live insertion/removal is required.
- Using in partially filled pipe — datasheet requires full-pipe flow.
- Ignoring Reynolds ≥4500 at the low end of the velocity range.
- Extending cable without maintaining twisted shielded pair practices.

When to RFQ / what to tell us
- Pipe size and whether hot-tap is required.
- Fluid, velocity/flow, temperature, pressure.
- NPT vs ISO connection; O-ring FKM vs EPDM.
- Cable length needs, host/PLC input type, quantity, ship-to country.

FAQ
Q: Standard or hot-tap — which do I need? A: Hot-tap when you must install or service without shutting down the line (up to DN900). Standard covers DN40…DN600 with threaded process connection.
Q: Is it self-powered like the 515? A: No. The 2540 needs 5–24 VDC and provides an open-collector frequency output.
Q: What should I send for a quote? A: Pipe size, hot-tap yes/no, fluid, velocity, T/P, connection, cable needs, quantity. Compatible with systems using GF Signet 2540 if you need a drop-in check — we do not claim authorized-dealer status.
