Fits local mechanical pressure indication where you need a 2½″ or 3½″ stainless case, Bourdon-tube construction, and a dry or liquid-filled dial — no electrical output.

Key advantages

  • AW or SW tube families — AW to 1,000 psi (Al/bronze connection); SW to 15,000 psi (316L SS connection).
  • Grade 1A dry accuracy — ±1% of span dry (ASME B40.100); ±1.5% liquid filled.
  • 2½″ / 3½″ SS case — 304 SS case/ring with optional 316L on SW; dry or liquid-filled dial.
  • Flexible process ports — ¼ / ½ / ⅛ NPT Male and listed positions (lower, back, top, 3/9 o’clock).

Typical applications

  • Local mechanical pressure indication on process and utility lines.
  • Skids preferring stainless case gauges without electrical output.
  • High-pressure points needing the SW 316L connection option to 15,000 psi.

Selection guide

  • Tube / connection family — AW: vacuum, compound, to 1,000 psi; SW: vacuum, compound to 15,000 psi. SW uses 316 SS Bourdon tube and 316L SS process connection; AW uses 316 SS tube with aluminum/bronze process connection.
  • Accuracy — ±1% of span dry (ASME B40.100 Grade 1A); ±1.5% of span liquid filled. Decide dry vs filled before you quote accuracy to the plant.
  • Dial size — 2½″ or 3½″, black figures on white.
  • Process connection — ¼ NPT Male, ½ NPT Male (SW), ⅛ NPT Male and other sizes listed; positions: lower / lower back / top / 3 o’clock / 9 o’clock.
  • Case / ring — 304 SS case/ring (optional 316L SS case/ring on SW).
  • Fill — Dry, glycerin (std liquid fill), silicone, or Halocarbon. Fill choice sets media and ambient limits.
  • Media temperature — Dry −40…121 °C process; PLUS! −40…93 °C; glycerin/silicone/halocarbon fills per OEM documentation table.
  • Ambient temperature — Dry −40…93 °C; PLUS! −40…66 °C; glycerin fill −7…66 °C; silicone/halocarbon −40…66 °C.
  • Ingress — IP65 (plug closed), IP54 (plug vented); NEMA 4X (plug closed).
  • Mounting — U-clamp, front flange, or back flange.

Common mistakes

  • Ordering AW wetted parts for a corrosive or high-pressure service that needs SW (316L connection, up to 15,000 psi).
  • Specifying Grade 1A accuracy on a liquid-filled gauge — filled accuracy is ±1.5% of span.
  • Leaving the vent plug closed outdoors when condensation/pressure build-up needs venting — IP drops from IP65 (closed) to IP54 (vented).
  • Ignoring fill vs ambient limits (e.g. glycerin fill −7…66 °C ambient) in cold or hot rooms.
  • Expecting overpressure / burst numbers from the 2½/3½ datasheet — that sheet does not publish them; ask if your service needs a stated overpressure margin.
  • Confusing this 2½/3½ family with the separate 4½/6 datasheets for larger dials.

When to RFQ / what to tell us

  1. Range (vacuum / compound / pressure) and units; AW vs SW.
  2. Media, process temperature, and dry vs liquid fill (glycerin / silicone / Halocarbon).
  3. Dial size (2½″ or 3½″) and connection size / position.
  4. Mounting (U-clamp / front flange / back flange) and case material preference.
  5. IP / NEMA need, any CRN / NSF-61 / CE mark required, quantity, ship-to country.

FAQ

Q: AW or SW — which do I order? A: Use SW when you need 316L process connection and ranges above 1,000 psi (to 15,000 psi). AW tops out at 1,000 psi and uses aluminum/bronze process connection with a 316 SS Bourdon tube.

Q: Dry or liquid filled? A: Dry gives ±1% of span (Grade 1A). Liquid fill (glycerin std; silicone or Halocarbon options) is for vibration / pulsation damping but accuracy becomes ±1.5% of span. Fill also changes ambient limits.

Q: Does the datasheet give overpressure or burst pressure? A: Not on the 2½/3½ sheet. If your service needs a stated overpressure margin, say so in the RFQ so we can check options or an alternate model.

Q: What do I send for a quote? A: Range and AW/SW, media and temperature, dial size, connection size/position, fill, mounting, required marks (CRN, NSF-61, CE), quantity. Compatible with systems using Ashcroft 1009 if you need a drop-in check — we do not claim authorized-dealer status.
